Pickles, Fries, and a Whole Lot of Smiles: My First Book Signing at McDonald’s

On May 4th, I had my very first book signing event — and where better to launch Percy the Pickle’s Space Adventure than a place full of happy meals and happy memories?

The event was held at the Troy, Ohio McDonald’s located at 1560 W Main St, run by the wonderful team at Scott Family McDonald’s. It was the official launch day of Percy’s new book, and I couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate it than right in my hometown, surrounded by friends, family, and french fries.

What the Event Was All About

I brought copies of:

Over the course of the afternoon, around 10 kids and 20 adults stopped by. Many of them people I don’t get to see often, which made their support all the more meaningful. I had a steady stream of readers, listeners, and lots of little ones excited to meet Percy in person (well, in book form!).

Story Time, Signatures & Sweet Surprises

I read Percy’s Jungle Adventure aloud, and even though I was nervous (this was my first event ever!), the kids were so sweet and attentive. Scott Family McDonald’s purchased copies of Percy the Pickle’s Jungle Adventure and handed them out to every child who attended. After the reading, I had the chance to sign each one! Which was honestly one of the coolest moments of my author journey so far.

One little reader, Wade, even colored me a picture. That gave me the warm-and-fuzzies in a way I won’t forget.

Community Love & Future Events

It meant the world to see so many familiar faces show up and support me. Especially those I hadn’t seen in a while. Whether they were longtime friends, family members, or curious community members, I felt so grateful to share this moment with them.

A huge thank-you goes to the team at Scott Family McDonald’s for not only hosting me but also inviting me to come back and read the second book sometime soon!

If you missed this event and still want a copy of Percy’s latest adventure, you can grab it here or learn more about the series on my Percy the Pickle page.

Bringing Books to Troy, Ohio

As a local children's book author in Troy, Ohio, being able to host this event just minutes from where I live was incredibly meaningful. I boosted the event on Instagram and Facebook, handed out flyers to small businesses, and leaned into the power of word-of-mouth — and it worked.

There’s something special about seeing a community rally around creativity, especially when it’s something as silly and heartfelt as a children’s book about a pickle.

Thanks again to everyone who came out to support Percy (and me)! Here's to more weird little adventures and the magic that happens when stories come to life — even if it’s in a McDonald’s.

It’s me! It’s why you are here, I’m the author.
