A Frank Discussion About Endometriosis: My Podcast Appearance on Coffee and Tea with Carrie Vee

When I attended the EmpowHer event, I never expected it to lead to a podcast appearance. But as I listened to Carrie Vee speak about the power of choices, I felt a spark of boldness. So, during the Q&A, I made a choice of my own. I stood up in front of the entire crowd and asked Carrie directly: “Would you have me on your podcast?”

To my surprise (and relief), she said yes.

That moment led to one of the more meaningful conversations about endometriosis that I've ever had. It was a raw, honest discussion about endo, chronic illness, and the importance of being heard.

The Episode: Honest Talk About Endometriosis

On this episode of Coffee and Tea with Carrie Vee, I open up about my personal journey with endometriosis. A condition that affects 1 in 10 women but is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed. I share what it’s really like to live with chronic pain, how I turned my struggle into strength, and why I wrote my book, What Endometriosis Couldn’t Take from Me.

But this conversation goes beyond my story. Carrie and I talk about:

  • Self-advocacy: Why you should never settle for a dismissive doctor.

  • Breaking myths: Painful periods are not normal. If you’re suffering, something is wrong.

  • Empowerment: Finding strength in vulnerability and choosing courage in the face of uncertainty.

“Periods are not supposed to be painful. If you are suffering, get help.” — Brianna Booker

A Conversation Worth Sharing

One thing Carrie Vee said that stuck with me is how open I was about my experience, no matter how embarrassing. It’s not always easy to talk about the reality of chronic illness, but I’ve learned that vulnerability is where true connection begins.

This podcast episode is more than just a conversation, it’s an opportunity to raise awareness, break stigmas, and let others know they aren’t alone. If you or someone you love has ever struggled with chronic pain, I hope you’ll give it a listen.

And if you enjoy the episode, please consider subscribing to Coffee and Tea with Carrie Vee. Carrie’s ability to create a safe space for honest dialogue is something I genuinely admire.
